Frequently asked questions about Triangles
Can two lines cross?
No. The app rejects a line that crosses a line already drawn, that passes through another star, or that already exists. Two lines can only start from the same star.
Why doesn't my triangle count?
A triangle only counts if it contains no star. If a star is inside it, or exactly on one side, all three sides can be drawn but the triangle scores nothing. The smaller triangles around that star can still count.
Can one line close two triangles?
Yes. A line has two sides, so it can close a triangle on each side and score 2 points at once. It is often the best move available.
When does the game end?
As soon as no more triangles can be closed and counted. The app then ends the game: any line that would still be possible would score nothing. The player who closed the most triangles wins.
What happens in case of a tie?
The end screen shows "Tie!". Against the computer, a tie counts as neither a win nor a loss in the statistics.
Do you play again after closing a triangle?
Only if the "Play again after a triangle" option is turned on in the New game window. It is off by default: each player then draws a single line per turn.
How many stars are there?
Three grids to choose from: 24, 60 or 120 stars on a phone, 80, 120 or 180 on a tablet. The stars are scattered across the whole screen, with no regular grid pattern.
What are the computer's levels?
Easy, Medium and Hard. Easy always takes a triangle that is offered, otherwise plays at random, avoiding giving away a triangle every other time. Medium and Hard calculate several moves ahead.
